AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Panic grips at Agartala’s Badharghat area as a midnight fire has gutted a godown ‘Tripura Markfed Warehouse Complex’ at Badharghat area adjoining the stadium. The tension is high as the fire remained out of control even 12 hours of the incident amidst continuous attempts by administration to control the fire. The incident took place at around 1 PM when getting alarmed the local people called the fire brigade immediately but till now danger prevails across the area and panic has gripped the locals. The fire brigade operation is being done by both ONGC and Tripura Fire Brigade at the godown in Badharghat. The loss was reported with minimum Rs. 1.5 crores, whereas if the fire can’t be controlled it may damage more. Badharghat locals are much tensed as above 50000 people are residing in that area.
The primary cause of the fire has been assumed as short circuit although nothing can be said clearly right now.
Day by day similar incidents are increasing in the Capital Agartala and most of them are from short circuit. Agartala Govt Offices were also reported with similar kind of losses when AMC office was burnt due to short circuit.
However, a huge number of police, fire brigade workers have been deployed on the spot. ONGC Fire Brigade is also on work.
