BARAMURA, July 10 (TIWN): IPFT’s national highway strike likely to escalate communal tensions as former militants backed separatist party demanding ‘Tipra Land’ – a proposed separate State dividing Tripura turning unruly after 6 hours of peaceful protest. Due to uncertain period time of the strike called by IPFT to disrupt railways, NH-44 and State’s transportation, State administration is not taking any chances on compromising law & order situation of the state. Talking to Baramura Police Station, they mentioned, ‘Police forces determined to maintain peace during IPFT’s road/ railway blockade and whole Baramura area has been kept under special observation ’. ‘IPFT had declared to block roads, railways before a month and since morning the blockade has begun increasing tension across Khowai, Agartala. The situation went out of normality when the youths came in bare body shouting and India's national flag was tumbling over the road.
National Highway and roadway blockade has finally cut the state from rest of the country. However, via Mohonpur vehicles are now passing towards Agartala, informed TIWN correspondent at Agartala office.
All the opposition parties have condemned this blockade including the split IPFT party led by Budhu Debbarma.
In a Press Conference, PCC Chief Birjit Sinha said that the blockade is illogical and inhuman. However, other parties like Trinamool Congress demanded an all party meeting by the state govt to sort out the issue, whereas BJP alleged due to misrule of CPI-M such crisis are happening. The other section of IPFT also alleged CPI-M has funded this road blockade.
However, amidst the blame game the tension has remained among the common men regarding the upcoming situations associated with the ongoing blockade.
