AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): With the separate land's demand, Tripura separatist group IPFT has blocked both railway and roadway in Tripura. However, in case of National Highway blocking the vehicles are allowed to come via Mohonpur way but in case of railway the single lifeline has been cut by IPFT since Monday. As per report, from Tripura there was not much number of passengers as they were aware about the strike but with the cancellation of railway passage via Baramura other state's passengers faced a massive problem. All around 5000 of agitators have sat in mass demonstration but a picnic like situation has hit Baramura area as from cooking to relaxing all these going over the road. However, the strike has remained yet peaceful with a huge security have been deployed at there.

Agartala railway station is located 5.5 km (2.96 nautical miles) from Agartala India. It is the second capital city (after Assam) in Northeast to be connected to the country's railway map, moreover Agartala is the first state capital of independent India to be connected with a rail network. Before 2015 the 413-kilometre (257 mi) route was connected to Lumding with a meter gauge  track, but after the gauge conversion in 2016, the track connected directly to Guwahati and the rest of India. But with strike over railway passengers are in trouble for the day. The situation may turn worst as the IPFT has declined to withdraw the strike until state is divided.

The IPFT made its political breakthrough in the 2000 TTAADC elections. The militant separatist organization NLFT had declared that it would only allow the IPFT to contest the election; in light of a series of assassinations, death threats, and kidnappings, only the left front and the IPFT participated. The IPFT ended up winning 17 out of 28 seats, taking a majority on the TTAADC.

In demand of Tipraland, IPFT has kicked off a road / rail blockade journey at Baramura.
