AGARTALA, June 24 (TIWN): ‘How far Centre can push a state for development, unless it stands on its own feet..?’, NITI Aayog member Bibek Debory had asked Manik Sarkar in 2016 during Northeast Summit in Agartala. This question everytime repeats after state govt’ arrogant attitude towards Central Govt discloses. With a shocking revelation, it has been known that Central Govt had sanctioned Rs. 150 crores for a Super Specialist hospital to build in Tripura, but seeing no response, Central Govt wanted to complete the laying of foundation stone here. But when state govt was asked to conduct the programme.

Tripura Health Minister Badal Choudhury wrote a letter to Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health and Family Welafre saying that Badal Choudhury will be busy in other works on that day so the Minister should not come for now.

In the letter Badal Choudhury wrote, “Please refer to the communication from joint Secretary, Govt of India D O Number : JSMSSYV05/2017 dated 18th May, 2017 regarding your visit to lay the foundation stone of Super Specialist  at block AGMC, Agartala”.

The letter further added, “In this regard I am to inform you that I will not be in station on 27th. Moreover, it is not the practice in the State to lay the foundation stone for such projects. Once the project is successfully completed we may jointly celebrate it inauguration”.

But Badal choudhury didn’t mention any specific date for the building completion, neither the work has been started or not it was also not said specifically.

The issue was raised by Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Minister also distributed the letter in hard copies to media. “This attitude of state ministers towards the central minister is really unexpected. Later, this same state minister will say, Cnetral has deprived”.

Counterattacking Choudhury for his comment as “………it is not the practice in the State to lay the foundation stone”, Assam Minister raised question, “Whereas Tripura CM everyday here and there lays foundation stone. In Hotel Polo Tower building inauguration his whole cabinet jumped…. but for hospital building they have no time” ?

Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was told about the issue by Central Health Minister J P Nadda during a programme at Guwahati.
