AGARTALA, July 29 (TIWN): The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) today announced disruption of its one decades of alliance with Congress and said it would be contesting all elections ahead. Addressing the media at the Agartala Press Club here this afternoon, INPT general secretary Jagadish Debbarma said that an MCC meeting of the party held since yesterday resolved that the party would maintain equal distance from all national parties in its solo political stint ahead.
"We feel this step would help in strengthening the party", Debbarma said. The INPT is slated to observe August 09 as the International INPT State Day, August 23 as the autonomous district council Day. The party would have its central conference on September 15. A memorandum would be handed over to the central government shortly after the conference.
Jagadish Debbarma today urged interested candidates to submit applications of candidature for the coming TTAADC election. On a different context, the party sought a government job and Rs. 1 lakh compensation for each family that lost members in the recent malaria outbreak. The issue revealed the utter failure of the state government in combating the health situation.
