TIWN June 1, 2017
AGARTALA, June 1 (TIWN): Amidst heavy rainfall on Thursday morning, the B.Ed undergoing unemployed youths in demand of permission to sit in upcoming TET Examination for 14,000 posts have been gheraoed Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty’s residence. After the massive teacher recruitment corruption held since 2010 in Tripura was exposed, Supreme Court cancelling 10,323 Tripura Teachers’ jobs asked the state govt to fill up the vacancies with 31st Dec, 2017 whereas the recruitment process must be begun within May-31st. However, following that order Tripura Govt for the first time announced a massive number of vacant posts, which may stop huge number of recruitments in teaching posts for next many years, but the undergoing B.Ed students yet to get their mark-sheets and thus they asked for consideration so that they can atleast sit in TET as their result will be in hand in next 2 months.
In this regard on Thursday the demandants hit Education Minister’s residence amidst thunder and rain, after they held another set of similar protest on Tuesday last.
On the background of the protest it may be recalled that with the verdict of Supreme Court on March-29, 2017 against the recruitment of 10,323 teachers by Govt of Tripura, Supreme Court with the cancellation of those teachers jobs additionally ordered to fill up the vacancies within December-31st. The order also asked to proceed the recruitment procedure with May-31st, 2017.
However, following the SC's order for filling up the vacant posts, Tripura Govt released advertisement for 14000 teachers on Saturday asking the B.ed holders to submit their application for the interview. But, Tripura ongoing B.Ed students just for few months of gap in between their examination and the interview would not be able to sit in the interview, but being worried about whether in coming future such a huge job advertisement would be published by Tripura Govt, the agitated ongoing B.Ed candidates gheraoed Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty's house twice.
The candidates know well that once the offer of 14000 posts are gone, then such a chance will not come back again as it was due to the SC's order that the B.ed holders got a huge opportunity to sit in TET, although many have become over aged.
But, question remains whereas SC has ordered to fill up the vacancies within December and the result of the ongoing B.ed candidates will be out in July month, will Tripura Govt extend the dates?
The scenario is more or less like a cyclone wave came with 10,323 verdict in Tripura Cabinet and causing various damages, Govt’s face losses and raising of various issues.
