Cabinet resolves to release 7 percent DA, gap still stands at 36 percent

Agartala, July 22: The state government today decided to release further installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees at the rate of 7 percent. The much awaited DA release came in a long meeting of the state cabinet held at the civil secretariat here today. The cabinet decided that the additional Dearness Allowance would be considered with effect from July 01, 2014. Interacting with the media at his office later this evening, Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha said that the installment release of DA and DR for state government employees and pensioners would take the latest approved rate of dearness allowance to 64 percent.

A gap of 36 percent still continued to live in comparison with the central government employees. The centre hasn’t yet declared its share of DA and DR in July yet which still leaves speculations alive about the final situation of central and state government employees in allowances. An official communiqué from the Finance Department said later this evening that an additional of Rs. 5.25 would be allowed per day to contingent, DRW, Home Guards engaged with the Finance Department’s concurrence.

 

Group C workers would be given an additional monthly amount of Rs. 266, Group-D workers would be getting an additional amount of Rs. 161.

 

Fixed Pay employees in the Group C would be given an additional amount of Rs. 266 per month; those in the Group D category would be given Rs. 161 per month. Part time workers engaged with prior concurrence of the Finance Department would be given an additional amount of Rs. 126 per month. A similar rate would be applicable for the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE), grant-in-air schools and 7 non-commercial autonomous organizations.

 

The state government’s contribution of honourarium for Anganwadi workers would be increased from Rs. 2,865 to Rs. 3,131 and honourarium would be increased from Rs. 1,924 to Rs. 2,085 for Anganwadi helpers with effect from July, 2014. The additional financial implication would be for nine months during this year was estimated at Rs. 165 crore 38 lakhs. The average annual additional financial implication was estimated at Rs. 220 crore 50 lakhs, the communiqué added.
