AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), New Delhi is all set to implement demo project under Energy Efficient Lighting Programme (EELP) in Tripura very shortly. With an endeavor to prevent the wastage of power and to improve the overall energy efficiencies in the street lighting system, this project will be implemented, an official communiqué said TIWN over telephone, here today.

“Under this fresh project, all the street lights will be changed to LED lamp. For that a survey has been conducted across the state by the BEE in a recent past. Agartala Municipal Corporation already furnished consent BEE to start the first demo project. The first site has been proposed from Governor House upto Airport”, said the Executive Engineer of AMC Electric Department- Bishnupada Bhattacharjee, here today.

He further asserted that the entire project will be implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power (GOI), New Delhi.

According to a source, inside AMC a Memorandum of Understanding is likely to be signed in between the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and state government for the implementation of energy efficient street lighting project very shortly.

According to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), the main objectives of this project are; substantial reduction in energy consumption of the street light system, considerable reduction of electricity bills for street lighting of Municipal bodies/ Nagar Panchayats, reduction in evening peak load and to provide better and adequate lighting levels compared to existing system.
