Tripura Police Women Help Line -1091 launched

AGARTALA, July21 (TIWN): Tripura Police had launched Help Line for Women - 1091 on 08-03-2014 (International Women’s Day). This Help Line has been gaining popularity among the women victims of crimes, as they need not visit the Police Station to lodge complaint or to seek assistance of police in case of any harassment. This Help Line service is available for all the women/girls of Tripura irrespective of their age or profession.

 An encouraging feature of this Help Line is its use by the girl students in case of eve teasing / sexual harassment. The calls are attended by women police officers and the follow up action is being closely monitored by senior police officers for ensuring prompt action.

During the first fortnight of July 2014 (01-07-2014 to 15-07-2014). 77 actionable informations were received on this helpline, on the basis of which prompt action was taken by the Police including registration of 18 criminal cases.

Tripura Police again requests the general public to create awareness about this helpline for making best use of this facility for prompt police action and to ensure safety and security of women. Any person can dial on No.1091 from any mobile or land line phone of Tripura to give information to the police regarding any crime / harassment in which a women / girl is victim.

Tripura Police shall immediately act on all such informations and the victims / informants need not visit the Police Station or any office. If they so desire, their identity shall be kept confidential.
