AGARTALA, May 9 (TIWN): Tripura on Tuesday paid homage to Rabindranath Tagore on his 156th birth anniversary.
Pomp and gaiety felicitated Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary in this Northeast state . Since the morning various programmes were organized in Tagore’s remembrance across Agartala and other subdivisions of the state.
A colourful rally followed by children’s dances, singing at Rabindra Kanan drew much attention of the public here.
Some private organizations also organised colourful rallies to celebrate the day.
Thousands of children and youth took part in various programs.
Nobel laureate Tagore had very close relations with Tripura. Rabindranath was born in Kolkata in an aristocratic family but he had very close to Royal family of Tripura. He had visited the state several times. Many of his literature was influenced by this state and it's residents. In Bengal, this is the month of ‘Boishak’, the Bengali new year kickstarts from this month. ‘Boishak’ is even more special as it marks birth month of the legend.
