SABROOM, April 30 (TIWN): Theft cases are sharply raising in Belonia under South Tripura and its adjacent areas. Rising theft cases are becoming a matter of concern for the residents along the border areas.
Reportedly, Bangladeshi thieves are entering the border areas, disrupting the peace and tranquility of there.
Taking the advantage of lack of border fencing, the thieves enter easily and steal the households’ cattle as well as the goods from the houses.
In most of the theft cases it is found that mostly Bangladeshi youths are involved.
Tripura shares an 856-km porous border with Bangladesh. A large portion of the border is unfenced, porous, mountainous and riverine, making it advantageous for anti-social elements.
However, the localities have demanded a strict vigilance by the BSF and Police in the area to save them from the harassment of the Bangladeshi thieves particularly at Night.
