AGARTALA, July 19 (TIWN): To drive development and to get central funds in Tripura, we all should work together, said the Member of Parliament (MP) and former Industry Minister Jitendra Chowdhury in an exclusive discussion with TRIPURAINFOWAY.com (TIWN) office, here today. He arrived in Agartala after first budget session, this morning at 11.45am.

“We all should take the advantages from the movement of newly formed BJP government. North-East is the next target of BJP and they will start investing in this region with an intension to strengthen their Party and for the overall development. We don’t need to create political battle among the state people or others”, said Chowdhury.

On being asked about the experience as first time MP, Chaudhury said that the Parliament is a packed house of talented and tricky persons. There are room for different issues.  Obviously, I enjoy my new responsibility as MP after  a stint of 21-year long  as State Minister  in Tripura. I got this opportunity to serve the state as MP and I will do my best, he added.

Chaudhury further stated that we generally raise the issues in Parliament those are very important for Tripura and North Eastern region. Besides, Jiten Chaudhury is trying to upgrade the Northeastern MP Forum to address North Eastern India’s issues. Jiten Chaudhury is one among the five Vice Presidents of North Eastern MP forum.  A delegation of MP forum headed by Jitendra Chowdhury will visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi following different issues very soon. The issues will be decided in the next meeting of MP Forum on Wednesday at New Delhi, he said.

On being asked about the latest Rail budget-2014, Jiten Chaudhury asserted that Tripura is not being deprived in rail budget.

“I have created pressure on Railway Minister to announce the exact time for completion of Lumding-Agartala broad-gauge line. And the minister has assured me that he will discuss the matter with the Railway Board immediately”, said Chowdhury.

“Modi government is generally concerned about the PPP and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy. But I will say without having adequate infrastructure it is not healthy to invest any sector. I’m not against the PPP and FDI policy. But it could be invested in other undeveloped zone in the country. Healthy setup is must for any investment. It is being observed in the first budget that Modi government tried to offer flavor of different chocolates to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) policy”, added Chowdhury.
