AGARTALA, April 25 (TIWN): Calling a ban to the VIP culture, Prem Prakash Choudhury, Central IT and Law Minister of India has removed the red colour beacons from the vehicle which was sent at Agartala Airport to receive him. This action of the Central Minister gathered much attention of the passengers and Airport staffs present there. Removing the red-beacon 'India is a democratic country and no unnecessary VIP culture is anymore permitted here. Many states have already stopped to use 'lal batti' over the Ministers, Officials vehicles, so why not in Tripura ?" It was central govt's order to remove the red beacons except Chief Justice's vehicle, President's Vehicle and the Prime Ministers. However, the banning is officially to activate from May 1st, 2017. It's worthy to mention here that the government decided on Wednesday to ban red beacons atop cars of all ministers, politicians and bureaucrats, ending a privilege that was seen as the ultimate status symbol. The ban, effective from May 1, doesn’t exempt even vehicles of the country’s top dignitaries such as the President, Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of India. But ambulances and vehicles of the fire service, police, and army will be allowed to use blue flashing beacons to cut through traffic.

About six categories of beacons — primarily red, blue and yellow — are in use in India. But the red, or the coveted “lal batti”, has been drawing maximum attention as an elitist VIP symbol since the British rulers introduced it.

However, Tripura CM also doesn't use the 'lal batti' over his vehicle, but his other Ministers use it frequently.

Following his first action, the Central Minister joined BJP Press Conference discussed about Industry and Law & Order of the state.

Talking to the media, the Minister said, "If we talk about the law and order of the state, crime against women increasing here day by day. Tripura is also achieving the top ladders in murder, rape, molestation".

Choudhury further cited example of Chief Justice Dipak Gupta's farewell speech where Gupta said that when he came in Tripura maximum issues were about un-lodged FIRs.

"Same was with UP. People  were so much afraid that they didn't lodge FIR also there. However, public's anger was hidden resulted in massive winning of BJP at there. In Tripura also same will happen in 2018 and the common men will answer the ruling govt with poll results", Minister added.

The Minister also signaled about proper CBI inquiry in chit fund issues.
