AGARTALA, April 19 (TIWN): CPI-M’s negative politics on weakening economy, creating mass unemployment, social misery to generate supply of party cadres at cheap price. Citing examples of communists’ negativity, Governor Tathagata Roy on Tuesday said that, ‘Kolkata metro construction work began at West Bengal's capital Kolkata in 1970 that took around 25 yrs to come in complete shape’. Roy while addressing in a programme at NIT Agartala shared his experience as an engineer he faced along with his colleagues during metro construction and the tough times, the engineers came across to shape up it amidst life risks. In case of Delhi and other metros constructions, there were neither any fund shortage nor lack of advanced technology at all. Those state govt dealt with foreign companies, which made the works much easier. But in case of West Bengal a tight economy was hovering over all the constructions and public's minds were full of negative thoughts. Governor also said instead of crains, push cars (thela-gari) were the options that converted a 5 minutes work into an hour's jobs.

Moreover under the Russian companies, people had to work in compress air inside the ground, whereas many engineers declined to do so.

"Amidst all the tough times, we completed the metro there successfully, whereas people were fully skeptical and continued to despair us saying in Kolkata soil metro is not possible. But had a clear vision that we will complete the work successfully and it happened", said the Governor.

"However, presently at West Bengal there are enormous economic growth and there is no problem at all", said Tathagata Roy.

It’s worthy to mention here that Communist led tight economy has slowed down many works in state Tripura too. The party's constant deny to go through modern technology has left both Tripura far behind than the main stream.

Governor Tathagata Roy earlier in a programme at Pragna Bhawan citing West Bengal's example said, “In 1980’s time, when India adopted computers, the West Bengal Govt denied to accept it alleging that it will increase unemployment. However, the result was just the opposite & the states which adopted the methodology they experienced massive economic growth after that. But at the same time West Bengal economy just fall down”. Governor said this to motivate the Govt in cashless and digital economy.

However, from MGNREGA Geo-tagging to digital economy Communist ideology has till day stayed behind, which is lagging the Communist states far behind than the economic growth.
