Agartala, July 16 (TIWN): Repoll would be held tomorrow in six seats including four gram panchayat seats and one seat from each of panchayat samity and zilla parishad, State Election Commission secretary Tamal Majumder said here on Wednesday evening.
Speaking to reporters at the Commission office in Agartala today, Majumder said that repoll would be held in seat no 7 of constituency no. 4 of Bhatilarma gram panchayat in Bishalgarh block; seat no. 1 of constituency no. 1 of Kurti gram panchayat in Kadamtala block, two other seats in constituency no. 1 and 2 of Dakshin Panisagar gram panchayat of Panisagar block in North Tripura district.
Seat no. 17 of North Tripura Zilla Parishad and seat no. 9 of Panisagar panchayat samity would go for repoll at the same time on Thursday, the State Election Commission secretary said.
Asked about security and polling personnel arrangement for the re-poll process, the official said that all poll personnel who were engaged in the regular election process on July 15 would be deployed for the repoll. Security deployment was being continued as usual. The Commission would be ready to deploy extra security if needed, the official said.
The State Election Commission secretary today further said that the latest figures of poll turnout from across the state in the three-tier panchayat general election was pegged at 88.58 percent after reports arrived from all blocks. The figures are expected to rise anyway since votes cast by Election Duty Voters (EDV) and votes from the repoll session of six seats scheduled on July 17 would be added to the current figure.
The general election of three tier panchayats on Tuesday had 59.31 percent votes cast till 1 PM today. The polling percentage stood at 39 percent at 11 AM earlier on the day. The final figures that arrived from 16 blocks stood at 86.45 percent.
