Hyderabad / Agartala, April 17 (TIWN): Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) National general secretary, P. Muralidhar Rao and party MLC, Ramchander Rao along with several senior party members and workers were arrested by the city police on Monday.
Following his arrest Tripura State Observer Sunil Deodhar said, "Is Freedom of speech only applicable to anti-nationals? Strongly condemn arrest of P Muralidhar Rao".
The senior BJP members and workers were taking part in a ‘dharna’ at the Hyderabad Collectorate protesting against the State government’s decision to enhance reservations to 12 per cent for Muslims.
Question also raised, why the reservation was only based on religion ? There are other minorities as Christians, Buddists, Jain and so many.
Along with close to 100 party workers of the city unit, the senior party leaders raised anti-reservation slogans and blocked the Abids main road before the police decided to arrest them.
