Agartala, July 15 (TIWN): The three-tier Panchayat poll held today concluded with a few incidents of clash prevailing panic among the voters and one hospitalized.
The election at Khowai started as per the schedule. Voters cast their votes in a festive mood, but, with the passing of the day after 12 pm, a few CPI (M) cadres started creating nuisance resulting in a jittering atmosphere all around.
The first incident occurred at Padmabil Birchandrapur Higher secondary School. A few people other than voters started gathering the school premises. Though the Presiding Officer was acknowledged of the issue, he gave no response. Not getting any response, the higher authorities were reported and Sector Officer arrived and moved them out of the polling centre.
Furthermore, one polling agent Abhinoy Kapali, supporter of Trinamool Congress was beaten severely by CPI (M) cadres. Abhinoy Kapali was admitted in the hospital immediately. Later, a written complaint was reported before the Returning Officer and the RO sent the written complaint to the Police Station for taking immediate action.
One 105-year-old Surabala Paul along with her two grandsons exercised her franchisee to put on record her electoral choice. It is worthy to mention here that despite of tight security measures, the security personnel did not have anything in their hands.
The sporadic incidents of violence occurred especially among CPI (M) and Trinamool Congress. Block President Subir Nath Sharma raised allegations against CPI (M) for involving Trinamool Congress in the clashes reported from Various Panchayats and seats. CPI (M) Divisional Secretary Biswajit Datta stated that the election was conducted peacefully barring a few incidents of clash.
