AGARTALA, July 15 (TIWN): Director (Personnel) of the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO)- Satyabrata Bargohain concluded his trip to Tripura today. Following a two-day long trip he arrived here in Agartala to ensure the progress of Mararchak projects. The director will be arriving in the state once more on July 21, to jointly sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) for Rukhia, Barmura and Gomati power projects, an official source confirmed today.

It may be noted here, the effort for 101MW thermal power project under Mararchak NEEPCO is in progress in the state. Among them, 63MW power will be produced by Gas Turbine.

According to a source inside NEEPCO, the Director (Personnel) took detailed stock of the latest condition at Manarchak project. He met with key officials including the project head of the RC Ghat project as well and took stock of progress in the upcoming combined cycle project of the unit on Sunday.

Bargohain visited the much awaited 101 MW Manarchak thermal project on Sunday. He visited the Agartala Gas Turbine Project (AGTP) at Ramchandraghat near Agartala on Monday. NEEPCO’s Manarchak project has been waiting for years together due to tug-of-war with the ONGC over gas supplies. The project is reported to have been waiting with its gas turbine ready for generation since September, 2013.

Following eight months of lull, the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation in June assured gas supply to NEEPCO’s Manarchak project. The gas would be supplied by the next five months, ONGC asset manager VP Mahawar assured.

Mahawar claimed that gas supply to Manarchak plant was assured by the next five months. He said that gas supplies for the plant was delayed partly due to sudden absence of contractor of the project for past several months and partly due to requirement of gas for the second unit of OTPC powered Palatana project.
