Three-tier Panchayat poll continues amidst mixed response

AGARTALA, July 15 (TIWN): Amid tight security, three-tier Panchayat election is going on in Tripura. As of now, mixed response evoked amongst the people. The people of the state are casting their votes in festive moment since morning. No incident of violence was reported till 11.00 am, this morning.Altogether, 13754 candidates from different political parties have been contesting the Panchayat election in Tripura. Among them, 1020 CPI(m) candidates won the battle without any contest.

The people have started sealing the fate of candidates in ballot papers those are contesting for 114 seats in 8 Zilla Parishad, 5129 seats in 591 Gram Panchayats and 381 seats under 35 Panchayat Samities.

According to an official source of State Election Commission -Tripura, the election procedure was started from 7.00 am in the morning and it is going on peacefully. To make the Panchayat election free and fair, tight security has been deployed in the polling centers.

On being asked about the situation of election to an old aged voter in a polling centre of West Anandanagar area informed to TIWN that no long line was found since morning in the centre. The security personals are carrying out their duties very actively and there is no chance for vote rigging.

The polling will be continuing till 5 pm, this evening. The latest updates will be updated soon.
