Agartala, July 14 (TIWN): The Bar Council of Tripura will conduct election to elect 15 members, out of which 8 members will be elected amongst the advocates whose names are on the state roll for at least 10 years as required by the provision to section 3(2)(b) of the Advocate Act, 1961. The information was provided by the Bar Council of Tripura in a press release, here today.

According to the press release, last date of filling nominations is July 30; nominations will be scrutinized on July 30, withdrawal of nominations on August 04, the list of the nominated candidates will be published on August 06, election will be conducted on September 05, last date of receiving ballot boxes is September 09, date for counting of votes and result declaration is September 12 and the results will be forwarded to the High Court on September 16, this year.

It was also mentioned in the press release that forms of nomination paper may be obtained from the council situated at the High Court Bar Association premises. The nomination paper of a candidate must be proposed by one voter and seconded by another voter and may be delivered to the returning officer in the office of the council from 11 am to 4 pm on any working day.

According to the press release, a candidate will not be able to submit more than four nomination papers. Rejection of a nomination paper of a candidate shall not be deemed rejection of his nomination in case he is duly and validly nominated by means of another nomination paper. Nomination paper for a candidate must be accompanied by anon-refundable fee of Rs 3000 only to be paid by Bank draft in favour of Bar Council of Tripura, drawn on any nationalized bank payable at Agartala.

The ensuing poll will take place in nine different centres; High Court Bar Association, Bishalgarh, Sonamura, South Tripura District- Udaipur, Belonia, Khowai, Kamalpur, North Tripura - Kailasahar and Dharmanagar Bar Associations.

It may be noted here; voters of Tripura Bar Association and HC Bar Association, Kanchanpur, Sabroom, and Amarpur Bar Associations shall caste their votes in the HC Bar Asso premises, Dharmanagar, Belonia and South Tripura - Udaipur Bar associations respectively. The polling will take place from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm.
