Agartala, July 12 (TIWN): The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) resolved to provide luminaries to cover LT line extension of 57.05 km in the current financial year, official sources said.
The Corporation would be extending street light phase extensions upto 113.9 Km, with special priority to uncovered areas. A separate budgetary provision of Rs. 4 crore 59 lakhs 30 thousand was marked for regular repairs and maintenance works in the street lighting system wherever required.
The erstwhile municipal council had its last LT line extension in 2011-2012 with a 50 Km extension within the city area. With a much larger civic area to cover, especially with over 1 kakh new civic residents covered in the extended city area of the Corporation, the AMC authorities are now targeting to extend LT power transmission lines upto 44.45 Km this year, a source said.
Target for street light phasing was pegged at 70.30 Km, the only street light phasing target in the past three financial years.
The municipal corporation recently said in its outcome budget for 2014-2015 that 59 percent of the budget would be spent under development head, 20 percent would be spent for providing basic services to the civic residents, 9 percent would be spent for solid waste management, 8 percent of the budget would be spent for providing salary, allowances for the corporation employees. Four percent of the budget would be spent for providing civic services.
