AGARTALA, April 2 (TIWN): Whereas the whole country is talking about 7th pay commission, Tripura employees salaries are yet equivalent of 3rd pay commission. Left Front government had constituted a pay commission in 1996 and its recommendations were implemented in 1999. Later it constituted a pay review committee in 2006 and its recommendations were implemented in 2009. Moreover, whereas the DA gap is around 42 % the state govt hikes hardly 10 % per year. Even after the Central Govt has announced 7th Pay Commission for its employees, but Tripura Govt employees received nothing, but a pay review's promised given by state finance dept during the assembly. In the Pay Commission announced by the Central Govt 125 % DA was added with the present basic salary, whereas more 30 % basic has been increased. Already the Central Govt employees are getting the amount from 2016-1st January.

Talking to TIWN, Ranajit De, Joint Teachers' Movement Committee President, a non-political movement said “Already in other states the 7th pay commission has been implemented or paycommission has been implemented, but surprisingly, while presenting the budget the finance minister with the excuse of no fund denied to implement 7th pay commission, whereas as per the Assembly data from 2013 to 2016 under the sanctioned fund for Tripura Govt employees, there are atleast 932.55 crores have kept as unspent".

De also claimed that Tripura’s pay commission is equivalent to 3rd Pay Commission but Central is giving 100 % of the salaries for the employees. Yet the salary and pension gap with Centre is 4 / 5 step below for Tripura Govt employees.

“Manik Sarkar had planned the poor scale of teachers equaled with an LD Clerk was in the name of ‘Historical Equalization’ policy. In the name of employees welfare Tripura Govt announced a 600 crores of budget for the employees without mentioning anything about pay hike or DA”, De added

On the other hand Tripura Finance Minister after Cabinet Meeting on last week said, 'Give us 3 / 4 months more time to think how Rs. 600 crores will be spent for employees'. Thus, it can be assumed what the employees will get in future but after High Court ordered regarding filling up the DA of unpaid 31 % the Govt filed case in SC but the employees who have went in Pension they will also recive the deserve money with pension hike if SC upholds High Court’s order.
