AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Setting aside all speculation of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Modi government has decided to continue with MGNREGA but to revamp it for making the program development-oriented.
Thanks to the decision of Central government, ruling CPI-M in Tripura got an opportunity to host another victory, as it said to be a success of leftist in the country.

CPI-M leaders in Tripura while campaigning for Panchayat poll till Thursday propagating the apprehension that MGNREGA is going to be revoked by the new government, as part of their anti-poor corporate driven decision but Finance Minister Arun Jaitely did reverse.

Now, the story get twisted; CPI-M leaders have started campaigning due to threatening of mass movement by CPI-M in general and vanguard of Marxist in Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sakar Modi did not dare to wind it up.

“This is the victory of CPI-M to ensure development of rural infrastructure and at least 100 days job guarantee for the rural poor under MNREGA,” in election rallies from FridayCPI-M leaders started claiming but did not issued any written statement so far.

However, BJP Tripura state committee while appreciating the decision of Modi government stated that MNREGA, assuring 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year to every rural household, has been subject to misuse and corruption in Tripura.

"The government is committed to providing wage and self-employment opportunities in rural areas. However, wage employment would be provided under MGNREGA through works that are more productive, asset creating and substantially linked to agriculture and allied activities," BJP state president Sudhindra Dasgupta said reiterating Finance Minister Arun Jaitely’s budget speech.

The BJP government has allocated Rs 34,000 crore for the rural job scheme, allaying the fear that new dispensation may scuttle the program. The outlay for 2013-14 was Rs 33,000 crore besides, calling up rural youth to join in "Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Program where Rs 100 crore is allocated.
