Malaria outbreak, more diagnosed with malaria parasite

Agartala, July 11 (TIWN): A total of seven village committees of Ganganagar Block of Dhalai District have come under the grip of malaria. The patients affected with malaria are being treated at three different places including hospital of the sub division. The Block Development Officer of Ganganagar Block was handed over Rs. 15000 by Indo- German scheme.

Later, detailing about the malaria patients list till date, an official of the Health Department said that total 1,36,000 people were admitted in different hospitals and health camps across the state till Tuesday. Out of them, total 23,648 were found affected with malaria. Total 24,057 patients were admitted in the hospitals with 11,317 patients diagnosed with malaria parasite.

According to the report released on Monday, total 7,787 patients were admitted in different hospitals with complaints of fever. Out of the total, 1412 are malaria patients. The report released yesterday confirmed that 1385 patients are admitted in the hospitals with 668 malaria patients. The death toll recorded at 61 till the latest report came in.

It is worthy to mention here that in a review meeting held recently, it was decided to introduce the procedure of taking the malaria affected patients from their respective houses to hospitals and providing nutritious food items to them. Referring to curtail the crisis of anti-malaria medicines, the state government wrote letter to Union Health Minister for more medicines. The state government also adopted steps in creating awareness to control dengue and Japanese encephalitis among the people, spraying DDT in different areas of the villages and city as well. The District Magistrates are asked to take necessary steps in giving Rs. 50,000 to those families where the bread earners died of malaria.
