Dharmanagar, March 29 (TIWN): Protesting against the increasing crimes against women in Tripura, Dharmanagar Mohila Morcha raised their voices against ongoing crime against the women’s and girls’ of the state.

Although Tripura DGP K Nagraj boosts a lot about decreasing crime against women and claimed that atleast 25 % crime reduction has been achieved by Tripura Police in 2016-17 but in a shocking revelation, it has been disclosed that there is no respite from torture against women and the crime against women only in January 2017 was total 58 and atleast 17 were rape cases. The report was not published by any opposition party, but when in the ongoing Assembly opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath, Asish Saha and Sudip Roy Barman raised the question to the Home Ministry Dept, then from govt data, the dept. released the whole year's data. There was total 446 crime against women only in last 6 months. In July 2016 total 21 rape case were registered, in 2016 August total 22 cases, in 2016 Sept 19 cases, in 2016 Oct 16, November 15, December 18 and in January 17.Apart from that including all kinds of crime against women as dowry deaths, molestation etc. in July 2016 total cases registered 63, in 2016 August total 82 cases, in 2016 Sept 69 cases, in 2016 Oct 68, November 65, December 61 and in January 58 .

Amidst so many crimes happening in Tripura, ruling party's claim about peaceful state has no end. Tripura Commission for Women has received a new building at Melarmath, but with such buildings the files of crimes at police stations are also increasing radically.
