AGARTALA, March 11 (TIWN): The BJP led Assam Govt. which has invested Rs. 10,000 crores for Assam-Industry growth in last 8 months has already gain much success in generating employment. In his 1 day visit in Tripura Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that India Govt is planning to make Northeast as an industry hub and that’s why so many investments including connectivity, skill development are there for Northeast under Act East Policy. However, importance of state govt’s active role was further prescribed by Sonowal, stressing, “Tripura’s potentiality is high in industry chances and better than other NE states, eventhough Tripura CPI-M Govt failed to utilize it”. However, it’s worthy to mention here, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar placed a condition with industry development already. According to Sarkar, “Industry should not harm the peace of Tripura as business/ profit are not more important than peace”. However, Sonowal in this regard slammed Manik Govt Tripura’s unemployment rate which has crossed more than 7 lakhsThe Northeast of India is endowed with huge untapped natural resources and is acknowledged as the eastern gateway of India’s Look-East Policy. Nonetheless, the region is cited as a conflict-stricken remote corner of India, witnessing a series of insurgencies and illustrating the alienation of the locals from the mainstream.

Although the causes of insurgency in the region have been primarily political, the ambiguity related to the economic potential has added fuel to the turmoil.

However, before Modi Govt came in power NE geography was considered as the most cut area from India and rest of India, but with the new govt instead of geographical barriers state is ready to become the Gateway of Southeast Asia.

Already Bangladesh Finance Dept officials are visiting in Tripura to understand India’s economic policy. In this regard a 25 members of Bangladesh Finance Dept led by Finance Joint Secretary Jalal Ahmed arrived Tripura on Wednesday and they had been received by Central Govt officials. Talking to the media Ahmed at Akhaura Border said, "This is the first time that Bangladesh Finance Dept officials are visiting India for a training purpose observing India’s economic growth".

However, what will be the strategy of Modi Govt’s to turn NE as an Industry hub, it’s to be seen.
