TIWN

AGARTALA, July 5 (TIWN): To evade any legal action and court case, 4 faculties were appointed in the College of Agriculture without appointment letter violating recruitment procedure. The faculties hailing from outside the state were appointed only on the basis of offer. In absence of the Principle of College of Agriculture, Arun Debbarma, Joint Director of Department of Agriculture who remained in charge of the college as O.S.D was allegedly involved in the illegal appointment of the 4 faculties.

As per the report, Arun Debbarma has graced the seat of O.S.D in the college only with the degree of Agri B.Sc. Arun Debbarma has conducted the act with the recommendation of Baharul Islam and others, revealed official sources. It is worthy to mention here that Niren Majumder and Durga Prasad Awasthi were given appointment letter earlier. Challenging the appointment, one deprived candidate Mizan Hussain filed case in the High Court. The case was moved in the High Court before Judge Subhasis Talapatra on June 18 and next date was given on July 03.

On that day, the public prosecutor was to file all necessary documents before the court, but, the public prosecutor wanted time following which the court gave next hearing date on July 21.  On June 18, Subhasis Talapatra passed stay order over the appointment of Niren Majumder and Durga Prasad Awasthi. Sources said that after the case against the duo, 4 more faculties hailing from Assam, West Bengal, Manipur and Tripura were given offer. As per appointment procedure, initially candidates were given offer and after filling up the offer, candidates have to submit that before recruitment officer. After examining the form, if the recruitment officer finds it to be appropriate, he will issue appointment letter.

Thereafter, candidates will join.  Violating the recruitment process, the 4 faculties from outside the state were made to join on the basis of offer only in order to evade court case. Also sources said that legal officer of Agriculture Department protested against the illegal appointment. But, he has to stay blind eye due to the pressure of Department’s Secretary Bahuguna and Joint Director Baharul Islam.

The first and second batch students of the college have completed Agri M.Sc. Also they have successfully come out in the NET examination. In order to deprive the students from teaching in the college, the higher ups have appointed faculties from outside the state.
