AGARTALA, March 3 (TIWN): A huge number of unemployed youths to go for hunger strike for an uncertain period of time if vacancies are not filled up in Agriculture and Horticulture Depts. In a press meet 'Tripura Unemployed Agricultural and Horticultural Graduates Association youths told media that since years and years the Agriculture and Horticulture graduates are appealing state govt to fill up various vacant posts, but there is no initiative from the state govt to fill up those vacancies. Reportedly, TAFS Gr-l (In Direct Recruitment post 283 Agri-Officer Posts are there, but only 144 officials are working. The vacant posts' number is : 239. As per the data given by Tripura Govt in the Assembly, till 31st August 2016 total 285 graduates and 76 post-graduates in total 361 unemployed were reported in state. But the total unemployed who had appealed in TPSC it was more than 550. The unemployed youths also claimed that in last 6 years no recruitment was done in Agriculture Dept. Thus the graduates and Post graduate unemployed youth have demanded to fill up the vacancies; otherwise they will go for mass protest and hunger strike after March 15.

It's worthy to mention here that the present unemployed youths status is : 7,08,941. But instead of focusing to build up Industries, Tripura Education Dept is busy in circulating degrees but what will the passed out students do with those degrees it has no headache.

In the name of skill development Govt received 54 crores but the unemployed youths number is inreasing day after day.

Apart from that recruitment policy violation is reporting everyday. Among 36 lakhs of its population as per govt record there are  7 lakhs unemployed youths who have entered names in Employment registers. Apart from that the unofficial unemployed rate is touching almost the population number.

Neither the Govt of Tripura is following any particular guideline to run this skill-development mission. Whereas the Nagaland Govt also adopted guidelines by PMKVY to the trainees to get jobs for themselves or be able to set up some enterprises thereby not only employing themselves but Tripura Govt has set up a separate directorate committee is to  run various programs of skill development in various sectors. Under these sectors, the youth of the state of Tripura will be trained based on skill, capabilities, merit and interests.

In the survey of 2015-16 about unemployment percentage per 1000, Tripura scored 56 %, whereas at Urban area its 67 % and in 55 %, beating Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram. In the name of skill development the Govt has failed to provide jobs across rural and urban bodies.
