Congress, BJP and TMC to make a mark
TIWN

Agartala, July 4 (TIWN): With the upcoming Panchayat poll to be held on July 15, the opposition parties- Congress, BJP and Trinamool Congress have formed a common stage to make a mark in the three –tier Panchayat elections in Kumarghat subdivision.

As part of mutual understanding, three political parties have jointly fielded candidates to retain and capture some Gram Panchayats under Kumarghat RD Block. The Gram Panchayats where electoral understanding has been achieved include Dudhpur, West Ratacherra, Kanchanpurbari, Ujan Dudhpur, Fatikroy and Rajnagar.

According to political analysts, the opposition parties are in good position where they have been able to formed electoral understanding against the ruling CPM led Left Front. However, the ruling front is in command in the three-tier Panchayat elections scheduled to be held in July 15 next. Despite unabated corruption, the Left looks set to sweep the Panchayat elections as the opposition parties could not reach a common understanding among them in most of the Gram Panchayats. The Kumarghat block has 38 Gram Panchayats.

Higher Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty has been campaigning at Kailashahar and Kumarghat to ensure the landslide victory of the Left Front in the three-tier Panchayat elections. Party sources said, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and party secretary Bijan Dhar are expected to hit the party’s campaign level. Congress leaders are not interested in joining the party’s campaign trail, local party leaders have been trying hard to register a good show in the ensuing elections. While Jyotirmoy Deb is campaigning in favor of anti-left platform, local leaders like Sunil Das and Mridul Das are intensifying Congress’s campaign process. They are hopeful of good result in the coming Panchayat elections.
