AGARTALA, March 3 (TIWN): 'Tripura Planning (Economics & Statistics) Dept doesn't count about homeless, electricity-less families. So the number is known to Tripura Govt', said Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. Surprising, but the Planning (Economics & Statistics) Dept which is headed by Tripura CM Manik Sarkar has failed to give any data about how many families are homeless, how many families doesn't have electricity connection, water connection, pakka houses etc. It was revealed in the Assembly, when opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath raised question about this. CM directly denying to answer the question said, 'such questions' answer can't be possible to answer as the Dept doesn't keep such records'. However, question raises, if Tripura Govt doesn't keep such records how Pradhan Mantri Awash Yojna is working out in Tripura?

Already bundles of scams alleged against the wrong implementation of PMAY scheme and it is said that the original beneficiaries are not getting the benefits from the scheme in state Tripura.

In this situation Tripura Chief Minister's failure to answer opposition's question has irked more controversies.

Reportedly, recently the Central RD Dept. Under Secretary M Rama Krishna has sent a notice to GSG Ayyangar, the RD Principal Secretary under Tripura Govt. asking clarification regarding massive confusion created about PMAY scheme.

It was alleged that the 60 % of the name submitted in the beneficiary list are fake under PMAY scheme in Tripura.

It was said in PMAY scheme that “At the slum decadal growth rate of 34%, the slum households are projected to go upto 18 million. 2 million non-slum urban poor households are proposed to be covered under the Mission. Hence, total housing shortage envisaged to be addressed through the new mission is 20 million”.

Without making the common people aware about the scheme beneficiaries were selected as per wish of the CPI-M cadres. On 17th June 2015 the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave its approval for the launch of “Housing for All by 2022".

Now CM's answer not only displayed his ignorance about the scheme but has raised question about 'Tripura Planning (Economics & Statistics) Dept liabilities.
