KAILASHAHAR / AGARTALA, March 3 (TIWN): Atleast 80 % students' reduction was reported from various Anganwadi Centres in Tripura after Mid-Day-Quality was once again deteriorated. After few reports from Northern Tripura when dead rats, insects were found in childrens' mid day meal; for few months the quality was improved. But once again in rural Tripura Mid-Day-Meals quality has been downed.

Report came from Kailashahar that due to water scarcity cooking is halting in many Anganwadi Centers, whereas under Chandipur Block various Kitchen Chicken gardens which were made in every units., have been stopped now.

It was said that in every units of Anganwadi Centre Chickens will be preserved. The costs of the each projects were Rs. 20,000/-. But due to negligence of Govt this project has been shut down.

Moreover, 34 Anganwadi Centers suffering from water scarcity.  Tube well water and unhealthy smelly water are frequently used in mid-day-meals. The Centre worker Pramila Malakar, helper Tambi Singh also accepted the fact.

As  a result number of school students have decreased a lot there. Whereas 74 students were to report in classes, not even 14 / 15 students participates there.

In this situation, one can assume what will be the status of Right to Education, Children's health at those Anganwadi Centres.

The Central Government had notified Mid Day Meal Rules  on Sep 30th, 2015 enlisting various mandatory infrastructure along with that for the state govts. The National Food Security Act, 2013’s provisions related to welfare schemes included that Mid Day Meal Scheme.

Food security was an obligatory theme with it, but here under Tripura Education Dept. food safety has become a joke under Mid-day-meal. The attitude of mid-day-meal cooks and other officials, including the school authorities are like that students are enjoying the Mid-day-meal at free of cost.
