Udaipur, July 3 (TIWN): A shop-keeper handed over an officer of health department to the police for allegedly asking bribe at Jamjuri bazar of Udaipur in Tripura, here today.
The district food and safety officer- Dayal Ram Das went to the sweet’s shop of Samir Ghosh at Jamjuri bazar for checking the quality of sweets, this afternoon. After checking the quality of sweets, the said officer allegedly complained that the sweets are poisonous. For that the owner of the shop will be taken to the police instantly, said the officer.
On the other hand, the shop-keeper humbly asserted to the officer that there is no complaint against the sweets made in his shop. But the officer not interested to listen the shop-keeper.
However, the shop-keeper alleged that during the argument the officer Dayal Ram allegedly asked for Rs 2000 as bribe. But Samir Ghosh protested the matter strongly.
Later, the locals including other businessmen realizing the matter detained Dayal Ram and informed to the police of kakraban police station immediately. After that police rushed to the spot and arrested the officer. The shop-keeper logged a written complaint against Dayal Ram Das at Kakraban police station. In a new twist, the Dayal ram also logged a written complaint against Samir Roy.
On being asked about the concern, the OC of Kakraban police station- Jatindra Das informed that both of the cases has been registered and Dayal Ram was released in the evening.
The locals and the eye-witnesses raised several questions about the role of Dayal Ram. They also alleged, the police is allegedly biasing regarding this.
The Chief Medical Officer of Gomati district- Dr N.M. Jamatia asserted that if the allegation gets proved against Dayal Ram, then the department will take strict action. He also assured to a conduct departmental inquiry against the officer.
