SFI, TSU jointly launched 8-day long social activities

Agartala, July 1 (TIWN): Ahead of three-tier Panchayat election, to mark the 25th Martyr Day of former SFI state committee member- Arun Deb, Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Twipra Students’ Union (TSU) today jointly launched 8-day long state wide organisational and social programmes across the state. The Martyr Arun Deb was recalled across the state, today.

As a part of the programmes, a mega blood donation camp was organised and the 8-day long programmes were inaugurated at the SFI Chatra Yuva Bhavan at Melarmath, here today. The Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) - Ratan Das inaugurated the blood donation camp. Altogether, 47 students including 10 girl students have donated their blood in the camp; the state secretary of SFI- Nabarun Deb confirmed it in a chat.

In his address, Ratan Das asserted, “While protesting the vote rigging as a CPI-M polling agent in a polling centre at Simna in Zilla Parishad election in the year 1990, by that time SFI state committee member- Arun Deb was allegedly became martyr by a section of then Congress leaders in a broad day-light”. He further asserted that the SFI and TSU jointly took these initiatives with an effort to spread the message of that deadly incident to the new generation.

The programmes are scheduled to be concluded through a student rally at Simna on July 07. As a part, blood donation camps, seminars, Gana-sangeet, tree plantations, art competition, rallies and street corners would be organised in the different parts of the state.

Former SFI leader- Mitali Bhattacharjee, Animesh Mitra, SFI Sadar Divisional Secretary- Sambhu Das, TSU central president- Biswa Kalai and other SFI representatives attended the blood donation camp.
