AGARTALA, July 01 (TIWN): Thirteen people were seriously injured in a gruesome road accident at Kamalpur sub-division of Dhalai district this morning. A small passenger vehicle bearing the number TR01B 2355 dashed head on with a tree on its way from Ambassa to Kamalpur at Baralutma area around 8:45 Am today. All thirteen passengers of the vehicle were seriously injured.
Onlookers rushed the injured passengers to Kamalpur sub-divisional hospital. Medical Officers on duty declared ten out of them critical. They were referred to GB Hospital later on the day. Rajesh Choudhury (5), Sourabh Malakar (7), Samir Munda (50), Jharna Debbarma (28), Ajit Goala (32), Paresh Debbarma (32), Priti Bhowmik (50), Pompi Deb (27), Purnima Malakar (24) and Pranab Deb (37) were declared critical at the Kamalpur sub-divisional hospital.
Hospitals sources at GB Hospital said later this afternoon that most are out of danger. However, the condition of two patients is still critical. Officials from Kamalpur police station said that the vehicle was later seized and kept under police custody. The driver couldn’t be apprehended. Search is continuing to nab him, the police stated.
