AGARTALA, June 29 (TIWN): Jawans of 29 Battalion of the Border Security Forces (BSF) raided the residence of one Abdul Sattar at Durgapur village of Sonamura sub-division on Sunday and seized a country-made pistol, .32 mm magazine, five rounds of .22 mm pistol ammo. The raid came following a tip off, a source in the BSF said.Abdul Sattar is reported to be an active member of Congress party in the area.Local sources said that Sattar was detained and taken to Kulubari Border Out Post (BOP) wherefrom he was later handed over to Sonamura police station. Kulubari camp commander PC Saroj supervised the process. All seized arms were handed over to the police today.
While the CPI (M) leaders have demanded strict action on Abdul Sattar terming the seizure a step ahead in combating conspiracies of creating disturbances in the coming three tier Panchayat election, Tripura Pradesh Congress general secretary Mujibur Islam ad Tripura Congress SC Department general secretary Ratan Kanta Roy denied all charges and said that the allegation was ‘manufactured’ by the left leaders to defame Abdul Sattar and the Congress party ahead of the election.
