Disabled Rehabilitation Centre’s role draws flak

Ambassa, June 25 (TIWN): Dhalai District Disabled Rehabilitation Centre has ultimately taken intuitive to offer handicapped certificate, malaria treatment and various government facilities to the selected physically challenged persons under Dhalai district.

Altogether, 119 physically disabled persons were identified throughout 8 camps in Dhalai district earlier this month, the office super of Dhalai District Disabled Rehabilitation Centre- Arun Kumar Sangma informed it, today. A team of specialist doctors have recognized them based on Psychology, Orthopaedics, ear-nose-throat (ENT) and eye related problems, he said. The camps were conducted in Kamalpur, Nakashipara, Salema, Langtarai Valley, Gandacherra and the Panchayat and village committee areas of Chamanu village, he asserted.

“We offer handicapped certificates including various moving equipments to the 40 to 100 percent physically challenged persons every year. We have added 5325 physically challenged persons in the camps till 2011. We have identified more than 1200 handicapped persons and various moving equipments in the different corners of the district, this year”, added Sangma.

Overall, 22 physically disabled persons has been identified and several moving equipments would be distributed among them in the remotest areas of Langtarai Valley. Though, the number of doctors is not sufficient but the District Handicapped Rehabilitation Centre providing quality service to the villagers. For that the residents of those areas appreciated about it.
