Agartala, June 23(TIWN): Malaria epidemic continued on Monday with 442 new patients diagnosed with malaria hospitalised across the state and one killed.
Speaking to reporters at the civil secretariat here today, Health Minister Badal Choudhury said that 806 persons were admitted in hospitals across the state on Monday. 442 of them were diagnosed with malaria.
Hemarunu Reang, a seven year old child was reported dead from Hadukolok para of Kulai block. The body couldn't be examined till latest reports came in.
"The reason of her dearth couldn't be ascertained", Health Minister Choudhury said.
Asked about field visit status of the central government vector borne disease control program team, the minister said that the team had visited hospitals in Gandacherra and Longtraivalley sub-divisionson Monday.
Choudhury further stated that the central government instructed concerned organisations to ensure supply of anti malaria drugs to the state soon. Medicines would be soon coming from Chennai, Guwahati and Haryana, he added.
The state is currently having five days of medicine stock.
The state government has started a special nutrition program for providing special diet to all patients diagnosed with malaria. Stress was laid on providing quality diet to children.
