AGARTALA, Jan 13 (TIWN): Being the 10th cleanest city Agartala under CSE, its Municipal Corporation should have learnt to be clean in the real sense.

Areas under municipality do not have adequate dustbin facilities as per the garbage amount. Since morning the garbage collection vehicles are found loitering the roads showing evidence of cleaning done. If proper cleaning is done, why do the garbage bins remain piled up from time to time? The Municipality dustbins gets so filed with no timely cleaning that surroundings also do not get spared from littering.

Commuters find it difficult to pass and whoever is passing have to keep their hankies over their nose to prevent the prevailing bad odour.

Most of the crowded areas like Kaman Chowmuhani, GB Bazaar, Battala does not have dustbins at all. Garbage is being stacked in the road.

Stinking garbage bins with huge amount of littering is becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies. In order to prohibit littering in front of houses, most of the houses are often seen with hoardings saying not to litter in front of them.

This is the real scenario of the so called Golden Era of Tripura.

In a speech during the ceremony of “Green City Award By Skoch Foundation” where Tripura bagged “Green and Clean City Award” Mayor Prafulla Jit Sinha was quoted saying” More than 600 municipal workers are keeping the city clean day and night. Besides, 30,000 labourers are also being engaged occasionally under the urban job scheme — Tripura Urban Employment Programme, to clean the city.” The  recent daily situation speaking  something different .

Report submitted regarding the efficiency of the MNC in handling garbage seemed to be  picturesque.
