Refugee body slams Mizoram govt role over Bru repatriation process

Agartala, June 21 (TIWN): After a lengthy discussion on the ongoing Bru repatriation process, the All NGOs Joint Committee (ANJC) today confirmed that the process as prepared by the government of Mizoram can not be gratified. The Bru repatriation process was started from June 17 with a messy plan, the ANJC added.

As a result, to handle the circumstances an urgent meeting was conducted by the ANJC on June 18. After the meeting, the ANJC had passed a resolution to express their grievances through media. It was mentioned in a press release issued by the ANJC that the MBDPF leaders were not informed officially about the repatriation process.

According to the press release, the Mizoram government directed some unscrupulous persons to deal with the issue processing underneath the cloth so that they can earn a huge amount of money on this repatriation programme. As a result, there is not even a single family who set out for the repatriation. At the same time, the Mizoram government falsely ratified the number of repatriated families consisting of 24 were absolutely a misrepresentation to the people of Mizoram.

In the press release, the ANJC claimed that already 24 families had been to Mizoram out of which some of them got ration card and job card as well. The ANJC alleged that the state government is still not aware about from where these families are repatriated to Mizoram.

In addition, the Mizoram government could have been appreciated for the bogus list prepared by their frontal organisation of Bru –Co-ordination Committee (BCC), said ANJC. The Mizoram government is undertaking the repatriation issue as the camouflage of its unsystematic diagram.

According to the press release, for finding the fault transaction of the state machinery of Mizoram; the ANJC had submitted their grievances to the District Magistrate and Collector, Dharmanagar on June 16, and the TNJC representatives conceived this safeguarding the rights of the displaced people. As per the resolution, the TNJC will be launching agitation till then indefinitely as long as the repatriation is continued by the Mizoram government.
