Spl DG, BSF concludes two-day long Tripura visit

Agartala, June 20: Spl Director General (Eastern Command), BSF- BD Sharma today concluded his two-day long visit at Tripura.

During his visit, a free cleft lip/palate operation camp was organised at BSF composite hospital at Salbagan for the bordering population of Tripura, here today. The Member of Parliament (MP) and the chief guest- Jitendra Chowdhury, Spl DG (EC) of BSF- BD Sharma in presence of the Inspector General of this frontier- BN Sharma inaugurated the camp. This is the fifth instance when such camp is being organised in this frontier by BSF for the welfare of the people of Tripura. A total of 44 patients have got benefited of this noble by BSF in previous four camps organised during last one year.

Spl DG (EC) arrived at Agartala on June 19 and inaugurated composite BOP Salpokar of 29 Bn BSF under Gokulnagar Sector (Sonamura Sub-Division).

With the initiative of BD Sharma, advance teams of BSF reached out to the remotest corners of Tripura to identify the cases and thereafter brought them over to Agartala for screening by the team of doctors, which flew down from Kolkata for this purpose. Cases that were approved for surgical reification have since been admitted to the BSF Tripura Hospital, Salbagan which has been especially empanelled under this program to do surgeries on a regular basis. During present camp total of 13 cases will be rectified surgically by the surgical team, given them virtually a new lease of life and a smile of their face.
