Khowai, June 19 (TIWN): A 27-year-old house wife was allegedly killed by her husband over dowry demands at Laltilla of North Ramchandraghat under Khowai police station, this morning. The deceased was identified as Shipra Roy (27), a resident of the said area and she survived by a child girl of one and half year.

Sishir Roy, father of slain housewife today logged a written complaint against her husband Raju Saha (32) and her in-laws at Khowai police station for killing his daughter today. The other accused persons are; Ranajit Saha (father in law), Chaya Rani Saha (Mother in law), Soma Saha (daughter in law) and one other Madhu Saha. In his complaint, Roy alleged that Raju had an altercation with Shipra over the dowry issue on Wednesday evening. After that his daughter was allegedly killed by her husband and in-laws over the dowry demands.

According to the complaint, Shipra, daughter of Sishir Roy of Chebri under Khowai police station got married with Raju, son of Ranjit Kumar Saha of North Ramchandraghat under Khowai police station in the way back December, 2011. In the time of marriage all the demands of husband’s party were fulfilled. The marriage was complete by maintaining the social customs.

Since few months of marriage, she has been allegedly tortured mentally and physically by her husband and in-laws and they had started to put pressure on her for more cash. But she could not offer more cash to her husband and in-laws due to poor economic situation of her parents.

After receiving the information, police of Khowai police station rushed to the spot sent the body for post-mortem. However, based on complaint of Sishir Roy a specific case has been registered against her husband and in-laws at Khowai police station today under section 498(A)/ 304 (B) of IPC. Later, police arrested all the allegedly accused persons including her husband. Suppressed resentment is prevailing among the villagers of that area centering the death of housewife.
