Manarchak: EIL visits spots, estimated cost to be ready by June 27

AGARTALA, June 18 (TIWN): After giving assurance to provide gas to the NEEPCO within next two months, the ONGC has geared up to complete the unfinished the gas pipeline work from Limbutali to Manarchak.An eight-member team of Engineers India Ltd (EIL) has already visited the spot for setting up GGS at Limbutali (Sonamura) and few more areas to be covered by the pipeline.

Now, the EIL engineers and officials from ONGC’s engineering cell are campaigning at Kolkata to prepare the estimated cost of the unfinished work of gas pipeline as well improvement of GGS.

“Hopefully, they will be able to submit the estimated cost of undone pipeline work by June 26/27 to get it sanctioned either by Asset level or Headquarters level”, said ONGC, Tripura Asset Manager VP Mahawar today.

He said seven to eight contractors have already begun work to finish the undone gas pipeline work from Limbutali to Manarchak. “We have already sanctioned Rs. 22 crore to expedite the work”, he said over telephone from Delhi.

On Monday, Tripura power minister Manik Dey held a meeting with ONGC, NEEPCO and TSECL to review the progress of the ongoing power projects. In the meeting, the ONGC authority had assured that it would ensure supply of gas to NEEPCO mulled Manarchak power project by next two months.

As of now, the NEEPCO is ready to start commercial production at Manarchak power project by using only gas turbine (open cycle) only as it could not install the steam turbine yet.
