Health Camp & PRAYAS Programme held at Ompi

AMARPUR, Dec 21 (TIWN): In continuation of its endeavour to reach to people with health services and to bring about health and social awareness to the people in village areas, Gomati District Police Administration and Health Department organised a Health Camp and Prayas at Salka Para, a tribal dominated area of Ompi. The Camp was jointly organised on Sunday by Gomati District Police Administration and Sub Divisional Medical Officer of Amarpur.

More than 400 hundred visitors attended the Prayas Programme where various social & health issues of domestic violence, early marriage, vehicles act and rules including police – public relationship to maintain peace, law and order etc. were discussed. On addressing these issues Nabadwip Jamatia, Additional Superintendent of Police of Gomati District has sought the help of people to maintain peace and urged people to go to health workers, ASHA, Health Centre in case of any health related problem.

More than 106 people have taken health services from Health Camp attended by SDMO, Amarpur, MOIC of Ompi Rural Hospital and other medical Officers, health workers and local ASHA. Amongst twelve people were detected malaria, 14 eye cataract patients were found. Free Medicines have been given to all patients, informed Dr. Shyam Debbarma, Medical Officer In charge of Ompi Rural Hospital. One Patient severely suffered from Cellulitis, a common bacterial skin infection usually affects the surface of skin, but later on may affect the underlying tissues to spread to lymph nodes & bloodstream, in his left leg has been brought into Ompi Rural Hospital by Ambulance. The patient is being treated in hospital. 

In order to create health awareness, Dr. Subhendhu Debbarma Sub Divisional Medical Officer said “it is important to each pregnant woman should register first and ensure four ANC which help them to bring to hospital for Institutional delivery.

Immunisation of each child is also important to prevent and maternal and child death.” He urged all health workers and ASHA to create awareness on various health issues like immunisation, prevention of malaria, affect of tobacco, TB and health & hygiene including birth and death registration in rural areas.

The upcoming JE Vaccination was also got importance in the discussion of the programme.

The Programme was attended by Suman Majumder, SDPO, Ompinagar was presided by Paramjoy Reang, Chairman of Ompichara ADC Village
