AGARTALA, Dec 18 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at Assembly Winter Session said that the black-money curbing was a show off led by the Modi Govt to hide the failure of tracking ‘black-money’, which he promised to bring back from abroad.
‘If they are tracking black money then they should publish the black-money holders name…. where is the list? Show us’, Sarkar said in the Assembly.
“Stop fooling people in the name of black-money curbing. Due to shortage of notes the common people had suffered a lot, many lost their lives”, Sarkar added.
“Let the old notes run till 30th December or till the cash crisis doesn’t end”, he added.
Sarkar said: "According to the World Bank estimates, in India the volume of black money -- comprising gold, silver, diamond, real estate, share market and hundi, among others -- is over Rs 37.5 lakh crore. And only five per cent of it is in cash."
"So, how can demonetisation of high-value currency notes curb black money?"
