Improvement needs in construction sector: RD Minister

Agartala, June 15 (TIWN): Tripura is still lagging behind from the many states of the country in the construction sector, said Minister for Rural Development and Forest- Naresh Jamatia in a day-long seminar on ‘Pre-Engineers Structure and Green Building’ organised by the Indian Buildings Congress (IBC), Tripura Centre at Netaji Subash Vidyaniketan Auditorium, here today. The seminar was organised as a part of the 9th annual general conference of India Buildings Congress, Tripura Centre.

“A huge progress is being noticed in the construction sector at Tripura since few years and the engineers are playing a vital role behind the developments”, he added. Though the state is progressing in different sectors with the help of the engineers but still there are a vast number of scopes for the improvement in the state, he said. “This kind of seminars will lead us to reach in the peak of development in the forthcoming days”, said Jamatia.

On the other hand, the Engineer-In-Chief Sunil Bhowmik said, “The technology is dramatically changing every moment. The engineers can take a lesson from this kind of seminars to cop-up with the changes.” The theme of the seminar is a most important segment of engineering, where the first growth can be implemented, he added.

Speaking about his experience with the engineers serving under the Public Works Department (PWD) in Tripura, Chief Engineer Bhowmik said he didn't find any mentionable technology devised by them. "I don't know where the problem lies. I wonder what they have been learning all this while", he said in a jibe to the state technocrats.

The Secretary of IBC, Tripura Centre- Er. C Debnath, Treasurer of IBC- Er. SC Sinha, Chairman of IBC- Er. PK Debnath, Vice-chairman of IBC- Er. BS Debbarma, Development officer of HUDCO- Er. Kapil Baran Bhowmik and Professor and Advisor of Amity University, New Delhi- Prof. J Bhattacharjee including many other engineering students and PWD officials attended the seminar.
