Agartala, June 14 (TIWN): The Tripura CPI (M) on Saturday started a crucial two day meeting ahead of the coming three tier panchayat election.

The meeting is set to discuss issues relating to the resolutions adopted at the party's recent central committee meeting held in West Bengal earlier this month, a highly placed source in the party said here today. The meeting would further discuss the result of the recently concluded Lok Sabha election results in the context of Tripura against the national results, the source added.

The Tripura CPI (M) state committee met earlier this year to discuss preparation for the panchayat election. On a different context, the source said that West Bengal CPI (M) state committee leader Biman Basu would be visiting Tripura on June 15.

Basu would be attending a convention to commemorate the birth centenary anniversary of Late former West Bengal Chief Minister and veteran CPI (M) leader Jyoti Basu at Agartala Town Hall on the day.

The central committee meeting of CPI (M) was attended by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and politburo secretary Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechury and others at West Bengal earlier this month.

While CPI (M) secured barely two out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal in the recent Lok Sabha election, the party secured 100 percent victory in Tripura with both Lok Sabha seats of the state in the Left Front’s kitty.
