AGARTALA, Dec 11 (TIWN): ‘I thought Tripura Women Commission’s Chairperson Manika Dutta Roy would highlight the issue of Triple Talak in her speech on Human Right’s Day, as she was talking about women-rights; but somehow she missed the most burning issue of our society’, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy said on the occasion of Human Rights Day celebration at Agartala. ‘No only Manika Dutta Roy but none of the orators talked about triple Talak or for Muslim women. We should come out of all fear and politics as well as hypocrisy of Human Rights and to speak what should we’, said Roy before Tripura’s renowned justices. “13 % Citizens are Muslims in India and thus 6.5 % are Muslim women, seeing the auditorium I can guess that there is not a single Muslim Woman is present here. But have you people thought how cruel is Muslim women’s life.

The concept and tradition of triple talak has fully violated those women’s human rights but I am surprised nobody talk about that”,  said Governor.

“Triple Talak can be given by SMS, Email, WhatsApp and in anyway. Thus where is human right?”, said Roy. He further thanked Alahabad High Court for taking such a strong step against triple talak and doing proper justice to women there.

Roy’s speech was a direct hit on the drama of secularism led by CPI-Ms. Whereas on the anniversary day of Babri Masjid Demolition day (Dec 6, 2016) SFI, DYFI rushed on road against disharmony and communal clashes supporting Muslim community, whereas Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar often claims Tripura women literacy rate is highest in whole India, but in reality this is the same party which never voiced against Triple Talak.

When BJP govt appealed in SC against Triple Talak in India, the Muslim Board here in Tripura raised voice and confirmed to continue protest supporting Triple Talak, but the ruling party here or any other party including Trinamool, BJP,Congress, Amra Bangali-----none of them raised voice against the issue.

About secularism, Governor said, “Secularism is that where no religion exists ! It’s not that you are calling you secular and going to temples or mosques".

Tripura women commission no doubly help the victims and raise voice against dowry system, tortures upon women, rapes etc, but Governor has asked the exact question as Tripura has seen no movement against Triple TalaK.

However, Roy further criticized countries like Pakistan, Soudi Arabiya, Soviet Union which didn’t accepted the human rights laws in their countries.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board, which is violating women’s right in the country is actually non-govt organization and on that basis the Alahabad High Court banned Triple Talak.
