AGARTALA, Dec 8 (TIWN): Srinathpur MGNREGA scam worth multiple crores, which has hit the RD Dept of Tripura includes many Govt officials' name, said PCC Chief Birjit Sinha on Thursday. Talking to Birjit Sinha over phone he said that right now he is unable to declare about how many govt officials are there in that case as he is in Delhi, but there are numerable govt officials including the BDOs in this MGNREGA scam held under Unakoti MGNREGA scam. Congress earlier raised voice, held press conferences, rallies so that corrupted officials get arrested or atleast suspended, and Sinha also sent letter to the Joint Secretary of Union ministry of RD Department at Delhi.

Sinha also attached a copy with the state Chief Secretary Y P Singh against misappropriation of public money by Srinathpur and other RD Blocks, but the whole investigation was given to N K Sinha and as per his report sent to the centre, the centre dismisses Birjit’s all allegations brought against Panchayat members. However, next Birjit Sinha filed a case in Tripura High Court and as per the hearing HC has ordered SIT to investigate properly with the case.

However, Birjit Sinha has said, “Why no suspension order has passed till now on Govt part as already it’s proven that much embezzlement was done there”. It’s worthy to mention here High Court has ordered to begin SIT inquiry upon the Rs. 1.50 crores Panchayat scam held at Srinathpur Gram Panchayat and others at Unakoti.  

In 2015, the District Congress President Badarudh Jaman mentioned that elected members of Congress and two independents members of Srinathpur Panchayat of Kailashahar, filled an FIR against the former BDO, Pradhan and a Panchayat Secretary at Irani Police Station.

However, he further said that Former BDO Anupam Chakraborty, Pradhan Aliya Begum and Panchayat Secretary Humenuddin were involved in the embezzlement of the Rs. 64 Lakh of fund under MGNGERA and PDF fund.

Raising voice against the corruption, independents member of Srinathpur Panchayat Rusmat Ali complained that altogether Rs. 64 lakh of the MGNGERA and PDF fund of the financial year 2014-2015 has been grasped by the alleged memberss.

Detailing about the embezzlement, it has been mentioned that funds were sanctioned for digging 93 ponds but there are no records of 53 ponds. Besides, it has been said that for digging of two irrigation canal, funds has been sanctioned in three half and for many other work as well but all the funds are vanish.

However, they are expecting strict investigation against the corrupt officials after the HC’s hearing as apart from Srinathpur there are many Panchayat costing crores of embezzlement.

If in a single Panchayat the condition is like this, think what is the condition of rest 587 Panchayats, says Sinha.
