AGARTALA, Dec 8 (TIWN): BJP and TMC in Tripura alleged about the long deprivation to the common people while evicting the hawkers, shops etc across the state. In this regard BJP sat at Khayerpur in demonstration, whereas TMC hit Agartala Municipal Corporation, with different issues. BJP Vice President Subal Bhowmik alleged that whereas CPI-M party office and other unions received more than Rs. 2.5 crores as compensation, but the common people yet deprived at Khayerpur. “Making double lane with Central funds is to be done, but why the evicted people will not receive their compensation”. At Khayerpur according to BJP before 60 years many people were evicted but they are still deprived and following the issue BJP held 8 hour’s demonstration at there.

Recently in the month of Sept. during double lane construction, above 100 shops were evicted on at Khayerpur market. BJP Leader Subal Bhowmik  on that time visited there and discussed with DCM on the spot but as no action was taken thus BJP sat on demonstration.

On the other hand, TMC union named Tripura Footpath Sangram Samiti appealed in Tripura High Court with 100 hawkers petitioners in 2014. The result was declared before 6 months, in support of the hawkers and HC ordered to implement the Vendor Act 2014 as per the vendor rights here. But the AMC didn’t bother to follow HC’s order and the vexed people on Wednesday protested before AMC and also placed deputation to the Moyor.

It’s worthy to mention here that Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Chief Secretary Yash Pal Singh state principal secretary of PWD Lok Ranjan & other Tripura high officials were present on that occasion. On that day Nitin Gadkari said, the central government has sanctioned a total of Rs 871 crores for the project in two phases.

The project was to develop the infrastructure of the state and help to boost the economy and provide job opportunity to the youths of the state. But from June month 2015 to Dec 2016, around 18 months have been crossed, without any upgardation of the project.

On June 30, 2015 Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone of Agartala-Udaipur double lane construction work as a part of National Highway upgradation.

However, immediately after the fund release on June 2015, the foundation stone was also laid by Nitin Gadkari himself, and after that in the year 2015 the double lane work although began, primarily from Udaipur/ South Tripura parts, but it was only in the year 2016 from Agartala to Udaipur the construction work was started.

The work is going slow and no compensation has been received by the deprived people, which has generated a mass anger in Tripura.
