Agartala, June 11 (TIWN): The traditional Kharchi puja would start at Chaturdash Devata Temple, Khayerpur on July 5 next.

To make the weeklong puja into a festival touch, one preparatory committee, one executive committee and nine sub committees have been constituted.

Addressing a press conference at Puratan Agartala BDO office, Khayerpur Dy Speaker Pabitra Kar today said all necessary arrangement have been made to success the traditional Kharchi puja.

While PWD authority has been asked to repair roads leading to the Chaturdash Devata Temple, the TSECL would ensure undisrupted power supply during the festival days, he said.

Kar, who is also chairman of the Mela Committee said the authority of BRO has been asked to repair two strategic roads- Bridhyanagar to Khayerpur and Khayerpur to Amtali.

“The TRTC would make all necessary steps so that buses could ply for the pilgrimages during the festival. Agartala Municipal Council (AMC) will depute workers to keep the mela venue clean”, he said.

Kar further said the administration would ensure foolproof security in and around Chaturdash Devata Temple during the festival. “Adequate security personnel including TSR personnel will de deployed to provide security to the festival venue”, he added.

Like previous year, cultural programme would also be organized to mark the festival. Cultural troupe from outside the state are expected to join in the cultural programme.

A souvenir will also be published to mark the occasion. BDO of Puratan Agartala Krishanu Dey remained present in the press conference.
